While in Rome

While in Rome started with one man and a room full of instruments. Romen wrote, played, sang, and produced the first songs himself, building the band's sound from the ground up before it ever hit a stage. Now that vision is growing into a full band, starting with guitarist Robbie, as While in Rome takes the music further and brings it to life on stage.

Born in Houston to a military family, Romen spent his early years moving with his family between Germany, Boston, and Kentucky before growing up in the Sugar Land area. He turns that restless start into music that pulls from grunge, alternative rock, and nu-metal: downtuned guitars, heavy grooves, and vocals that go from a whisper to a scream. Think Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots in the melody, Tool in the atmosphere, and Sevendust in the punch.

Music comes in many colors. So don't look at a Black man fronting heavy rock. Listen for a sound that hits loud and sits heavy on the soul.

The songs deal with pain, struggle, and getting back up. The new single, "Grace," is about what you have to let go of before you can rise.

This hurt will fade away.

Listen to "Grace" now.
